PSNK Basketball Falls Short at Home, Strapac Puts Up 23
The Penn State New Kensington Men's Basketball team (0-7, 0-6) fell to Penn State Fayette (4-6, 3-1) 103-65 on Tuesday night at the Athletic Center.
In the PSUAC matchup between these two teams last week, Penn State Fayette controlled the tempo from the tip-off. PSNK seemed to have made a few adjustments to their gameplan in order to slow the Fayette offense. The score was within reach at halftime for New Kensington as they trailed 45-30 at the break. Penn State Fayette opened things up mid way through the second half with David Winns down low and Tony Bristol coming off the bench and nailing a trio of three pointers. The back and forth scoring mixed with a few runs by Fayette allowed them to pull away and pick up conference win.
Penn State New Kensington had a more balanced attack on offense with three players scoring in double figures. The New Ken Lions were led by Sophomore Guard, Dom Strapac, who shot 7-13 from three point range and put up 23 points on the night. Junior Captain, Darryl Harrington, put together a solid line for PSNK with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Rashon Boone was the third of the New Ken Lions to put up double figure points with 10. Casey Cavanaugh also had a good night with five points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals while shooting 3-4 from the free throw line.
Penn State New Kensington will round out the Fall semester on Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m. on the road against Penn State DuBois.
