Lady Lions Fall to Penn State Greater Allegheny on the Road
The Penn State New Kensington Women's Volleyball team (2-6, 1-1) lost in four sets (13-25, 22-25, 25-23, 13-25) to host Penn State Greater Allegheny (4-6, 2-1) Thursday night in McKeesport. Greater Allegheny came away with the first two sets before the New Ken Lady Lions were able to take the third set, 25-23. Greater Allegheny capped off their night with a 25-13 win in the fourth set to end the game.
Melissa Daugherty and Kennington Knapp paced the Lady Lions with each of them recording 8 kills on the evening. Knapp also led New Kensington with 3 solo blocks. Jordan Miller and Thamirys Ferreira helped to set many of the Daugherty and Knapp kills with 10 and 9 assists respectively.
These two teams met earlier this season at the Greater Allegheny Tip-Off Classic with Greater Allegheny taking the 3-set game, 2-1.
Penn State New Kensington will continue their road action with a trip out east to face four PSUAC opponents this weekend. The Lady Lions will square off against Penn State York and Penn State Mont Alto in York on Saturday, September 29th. The following day will hold a pair of games against Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Brandywine in Schuylkill Haven. Both double headers are scheduled for a 12 p.m. start time.
