NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – In Penn State New Kensington baseball's last two home games, Penn State Greater Allegheny defeated New Kensington, 14-0 and 12-0.
The first game was played in five innings. Greater Allegheny got themselves on the board during the top of the second inning, bringing in three runs. In the third, they scored five and ran in six more in the fourth inning. This finished the scoring for the game. New Kensington was unable to get any hits off of the visiting team.
Josh Stuckley (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) pitched for two innings and struck out one. Christopher Rendulic (Port Vue, Pa./ South Allegheny) also pitched for two innings, and Austin O'Hara (New Kensington, Pa./ Saint Joseph) pitched for one.
Although the Lions fell in the second game too, they began getting on base this time around.
Greater Allegheny pushed ahead by five during the top of the first. In the second inning, the visitors put three more runs on the board and were up 8-0 with New Kensington getting ready to bat. Reise Matson (Kittanning, Pa./ Armstrong) was first to get on base after singling to center field. Justin Lindeman (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) then singled to left field, but both were left on base at the close of the second inning.
Greater Allegheny scored two runs in both the third and fourth inning, leaving New Kensington behind 12-0. In the bottom of the fourth for New Kensington, Tyler Elliot (Jeannette, Pa./ Jeannette) and Rendulic both singled.
Lindeman pitched for 2.2 innings and struck out two along the way.
The Lions will play their last game on Thu., April 25 against Geneva College. The game will take place at 4 p.m.
