Road weekend ends with 6-0
Penn State New Kensington Earns 6-0 Shutout at Mont Alto
The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team made a statement on Sunday with a commanding 6-0 road victory over Penn State Mont Alto, securing their first PSUAC win of the season in dominant fashion.
New Kensington struck early and never looked back. Finn Bethurum put the Lions in front in the 14th minute, finishing off a pass from Dylan Shaw. Just five minutes later, Louis Negron doubled the lead, again set up by Shaw, as the visitors took control of the match.
After halftime, New Kensington's attack exploded. Daniel Garcia scored twice — the first in the 50th minute from a Carson Zadylak assist and the second unassisted in the 61st minute. Jayson Ireland added his name to the scoresheet in the 56th minute, and Thai Tran closed the day with a late goal in the 87th minute, also assisted by Zadylak.
On the defensive end, the Lions were just as impressive, holding Mont Alto to only two shots across the full 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Kenton Knox earned the win with one save before David Jimenez helped finish off the clean sheet.
New Kensington's relentless pressure produced 38 total shots, 16 on goal, while also winning the battle in corner kicks 12-2. It was a complete team effort that showcased both offensive depth and defensive composure.
