Penn State New Kensington Battles Pitt-Johnstown at Home
On Sunday afternoon in New Kensington, the Lions hosted NCAA Division II opponent Pitt-Johnstown, falling 7–1 in a tough non-conference matchup.
Despite the Mountain Cats jumping out to an early lead, the Lions continued to push forward and were rewarded late in the second half. In the 76th minute, Ethan Krystek found the back of the net, finishing a setup from Hunter Reed to give the home crowd a moment to cheer.
David Jimenez stood tall in goal, recording 12 saves while facing 37 shots in total. Offensively, Carson Zadylak and Taber Driscoll each tested the Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper, while the Lions continued to battle through the final whistle.
The match provided New Kensington with valuable experience against a higher-division opponent as they prepare to return to PSUAC conference action.
