Ireland Brace Leads Penn State New Kensington Past #2 Lehigh Valley
NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington men's soccer earned a strong 2–1 home win on Saturday afternoon, taking down USCAA #2 ranked Penn State Lehigh Valley in PSUAC action.
After falling behind early in the second half, the Lions responded well. Sophomore forward Jayson Ireland continued his impressive season, scoring both goals — his 10th and 11th of the year — to complete the comeback.
Ireland equalized in the 62nd minute off a setup from James Duncan, then found the game-winner in the 79th minute with an assist from Ethan Krystek.
It was a balanced team effort throughout, with New Kensington outshooting Lehigh Valley 15–10 and maintaining composure late to close out the win. Kenton Knox made four key saves in goal to anchor the defense.
