Men's Soccer Dominates at Hazleton with 12-1 Victory
Penn State New Kensington men's soccer delivered a commanding performance on the road Saturday afternoon, overpowering Penn State Hazleton 12–1 in PSUAC action.
The Lions came out firing, striking early when Carson Zadylak opened the scoring just over two minutes in off a feed from Dan Myers. Zadylak continued to play a key role in the attack, finishing with two goals and two assists. Moments later, Ethan Krystek doubled the lead with an assist from Zadylak, and Jayson Ireland made it 3–0 shortly after—his goal assisted by James Duncan, who marked his return from injury with an immediate impact.
New Kensington dominated possession and scoring chances throughout, taking a 6–1 lead into halftime after additional goals from Finn Bethurum, Dylan Shaw, and Stasi Musselman.
The second half was more of the same, with Krystek, Ireland, Daniel Garcia, Ethan Alberta, and Zadylak all finding the net as the Lions poured in six more goals. Garcia led the team in points with two goals and one assist, while Ireland and Krystek each tallied two goals apiece.
New Kensington outshot Hazleton 47–2 and earned 11 corner kicks in a dominant offensive display. Kenton Knox, David Jimenez, and Brendan Savinda shared goalkeeping duties, with Knox picking up the win.
