Penn State New Kensington edged in close home contest against Greater Allegheny
New Kensington, Pa. — On Wednesday afternoon, Penn State New Kensington fell 1-0 to Penn State Greater Allegheny in a tightly contested PSUAC matchup at home.
The Lions controlled long stretches of play and outshot Greater Allegheny 14-9, including a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Despite their attacking pressure, New Kensington couldn't find the breakthrough needed against a disciplined visiting defense.
The match's lone goal came early in the second half when Greater Allegheny's Noah Carson scored off an Alex Brown assist in the 47th minute.
New Kensington continued to push for an equalizer throughout the second half, with strong efforts from Jayson Ireland, Ethan Grant, and Finn Bethurum testing the keeper. Goalkeeper Kenton Knox made four key saves to keep the Lions within reach.
While the result didn't swing their way, the Lions showed composure and resilience in another solid conference performance as they look to bounce back in their next outing.
