PSNK Wrestling Picks Up Six in 2013 Recruiting Class
Brad Winegardner 174/184: A PIAA AA Southwest Regional Qualifier for Chestnut Ridge High School in 2013, Winegardner was able to compile a 31-10 record in his senior year at 220 pounds. On his trek to a 30-win season in 2013, Brad finished second at the District V AA Championships. Winegardner also helped the Lions to finish 4th at the PIAA State Team tournament this past winter. The incoming freshman will make an immediate impact at either the 174 or 184 weight class for New Ken Wrestling in the 2013-14 season.
Dean Lusk 285: A two-time WPIAL AAA Qualifier, Lusk enters Penn State New Kensington with a solid high school resume under his belt. The former Ringgold heavyweight put together a 64-16 career record while finishing 3rd and 2nd at the WPIAL Section 2 AAA Championships in his junior and senior years respectively. Lusk also finished second at the Tri-County Championships in 2011. He will look to be the new anchor for New Ken Wrestling as current PSNK heavyweight and national qualifier John Doppelhauer will make the drop to 235 for the 2013-14 season.
Colin Austin 157: A 2012 graduate of Penn-Trafford high school, Austin put together a 50-30 record for the Warriors in his time there. As a transfer from Westmoreland County Community College, he will look to compete for PSNK at the 157 pound weight class next season.
Damian Corle 141: A three-time PIAA AA Southwest Regional Qualifier out of Northern Bedford High School, Corle boasts a 72-51 career record for the Panthers. In 2012, he was able to come within one match of qualifying for the PIAA State Championships with a 6th place finish at the Southwest Regional Tournament. Corle will look to help PSNK fill in a big need at the 141 pound weight class next season.
Ejai Rock 149/157: A staple in the Everett wrestling lineup, Ejai Rock will look to make an impact at either the 149 or 157 pound weight classes for Penn State New Kensington next season. Rock was solid for the Warriors at 152 in 2013, finishing with a first place finish at the Juniata Valley Invitational and 20-8 record. In three seasons at Everett, Rock was able to put together a 49-39 record.
Vince Leschak 149: A quality contributor for North Allegheny High School, Leschak finished 3rd at the WPIAL Section 3 AAA Championships, earning him a bid to the WPIAL Championships. In 2013, Leschak was also able to finish 5th at the Manheim Invitational and 8th at the Allegheny County Championships to put together a 20-plus win season. Leschak will look to find himself a starting spot at 149 pounds in 2013-14.
